Mark Cuban eyes meme coin launch as solution to US debt burden

Mark Cuban, billionaire and co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs, has come up with an intriguing idea to use meme coins to pay off the massive US national debt.

According to Cuban, the US government could tap into the frenzy surrounding meme tokens by launching its own meme-based cryptocurrency, similar to TRUMP. All proceeds from the sale of this token, Cuban suggests, could be used to address the US public debt.

In addition, the entrepreneur has floated the idea of making the wallet address for the meme coin public so that investors can track the flow of funds.

Data from the US Treasury Department shows that the national debt currently stands at a staggering $36 trillion. According to experts, Cuban's plan is unlikely to significantly alter the situation. In the best-сase scenario, if the proposed meme token gains traction, like Official TRUMP, its impact on the national debt would still be minimal. At most, it could reduce the debt by about 0.03%. Notably, the value of tokens typically falls upon their sale, meaning the actual contribution to the debt reduction would be even smaller.
