Artificial intelligence gets green light

Developing innovative artificial intelligence (AI) technology is a noble issue. However, it is terrifying to think about the costs involved. Analysts are also worried about the possibility of AI slipping out of human control.
Currency strategists at Yardeni Research are cautious about the recent massive influx of investments in AI technology. They point out two main dangers that could disrupt the rapid development of this sector.
According to Yardeni Research analysts, there are signs of a so-called "AI inflation bubble," indicating a need for a careful analysis of the situation. Specialists believe that the extraordinarily large sums invested in AI startups are a warning sign. Yardeni Research notes that over the past three years, investors have poured $330 billion into 26,000 AI startups. This is much more than in previous years.
This massive wave of investments has elevated the creative potential of several companies and individual developers. However, it has also led to market saturation. Many of these companies are currently striving to achieve profitability, but not all are successful.
Experts at Yardeni Research believe that not all companies in the AI sector have benefited from large investments. An unfortunate example is Inflection AI, whose leaders left for Microsoft despite receiving over $1.5 billion. The concern is that a decline in AI startup funding could sharply reduce the incomes of those involved in this industry.
Yardeni Research strategists warn that optimistic statements from AI leaders may indicate a potential overhyping. For example, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, considers his Blackwell architecture platform one of the most successful products in computing history.
Despite the current difficulties, Yardeni Research acknowledges the high potential of AI but questions “the feasibility of doubling the world’s economy in such a short time."
In Yardeni Research's view, two problems—excessive funding and “pretty wild” claims—hinder AI development. Despite its significant potential, this technology could stumble over these issues. In this situation, investors should be cautious when investing in AI.
