مؤشر الدولار يمثل متوسط حركة وتقلبات ستة عملات رئيسية (اليورو، الدولار الكندى، الجنيه الاسترلينى، الين، الفرنك، الكرونة السويدية) بالنسبة لدولار. تم تطوير المؤشر فى عام 1973 بقيمة أولية 100. فى عام 1999 تم تعديل المؤشر ليشمل حركة اليورو. يتم التداول على المؤشر لمدة 24 ساعة فى بورصة NYBOT.

هذا المؤشر يتيح للتجار تحديد ديناميات حركة الدولار الأمريكى بالنسبة لسلة من العملات الرئيسية.
من الناحية العملية يمكن استخدام المؤشر لتحديد أماكن التقارب والتباعد بين الدولار الأمريكى والأصول المالية.
ملحوظة: قبل استخدام مؤشر الدولار فى التداول يجب عليك فهم الأصول المالية التى تعكس حركة الدولار الأمريكى واى منها يتحرك فى نفس الاتجاه.
